Hello all. I've been trying to solve an issue of jaws sluggishness problem I have ever since I've had jaws8.0
My problem is jaws will sometimes become very unstable mostly on the web but sometimes when using a simple aplication like outlook express mainly when replying to an email. I've talked to fs support about this issue and they say I probably have a system resource issue like a virus or spyware. I've ran multiple software on this pc one at a time and each comes up clean. Please note that I don't have multiple virus/spyware scanners running at one time. I've uninstalled each one after trying it. Currently I'm using AVG and that's the only thing I run.
I have 90 percent free resources, CPU hangs at 0 percent and if goes above it only goes up to 2 percent. I have 35 or so processes running so I know the system is not stressing.
In my system tray I have AVG running, jaws running, and dell support running which is the aplication that dell uses to monitor the system. That's all that runs in the system tray.
I was running 256 mb of ram but since upgraded to a gig plus the 256 that was already in it. The only difference I noticed in jaws while after upgrading the ram is jaws loads much faster now but the unstability of the speach still remains, and like I said it's happening in places that jaws should run perfectly fine in like outlook express and internet explorer. While I understand jaws doesn't like websites with a lot of graphics, this is non graphic related.
If there's any other ideas you can bring to me I'd sure appreciate it because I don't want to contact fs tech support again because all they will tell me is that I have a system resource issue which I know that isn't the case.
I also would like to say that I do the routine maintenance on this computer such as defrag, scan disk, etc. I also have ran every crap cleaner and every system optimizer that works with jaws that you can thing of. Please note this software does not run in the background like most junk cleaners or scanners out there on the market. I have to run them manually.
Also note that this computer takes about a minute if that to boot up so it boots up pretty fast.
Now If I put any jaws version up until 8 on here
I don't have the problem but if I put version 8 or any beyond it gives me a hard time. I really don't want to put an old version of jaws on here because of the aplications that the newer versions of jaws works with.
Just for everyones information I'm running jaws9.0 on here right now. I've also tried doing a clean uninstall and a fresh reinstall of jaws uninstalling every version priar to 9 and just putting 9 by itself on here.
Now for a little about my computer:
windows xp home
more then enough ram to be exact 1.25 gb
80 gig hard drive
the system board, video card, and processor are all intel
To be exact my video card is an
intel(r)82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV graphics controller
my processor is an intel (r)celeron (R) CPU2.00 ghz
my sound card is a soundmax digital audio.
This computer is 3 years old.
It's a dell desktop dimension gim2350.
That's about all I can tell you about the computer.
I don't want to go spending money on upgrades because I'm afraid if I upgrade this thing the issue may still persists so if there's any advice someone can give me please let me know and if you need more information about my computer please let me know that as well.
Thanks for any help.
